Strolling into Love: Seniors Finding Seniors

Life has a funny way of guiding us exactly where we need to be, often through wagging tails, gentle nudges, and joyful waddles. Meet Jody and Tachi—two spirited senior Chihuahuas who teach us that love and happiness have no expiration date.

At Baja Animal Sanctuary, dogs live cage-free, finding friends matched by age, size, and heart. That's exactly how our dynamic duo first bonded, forming a friendship that was about to change their lives forever.

Jody, a sassy 10-year-old charmer with soulful eyes, was rescued bravely navigating busy streets. She carried herself like a seasoned survivor, yet her endless affection showed that her spirit remained as warm and hopeful as ever. Small in size, big on heart—Jody taught everyone she met about resilience, boundless joy and the will to survive.

Then there's Tachi, the tiny dynamo weighing just 3.5 pounds. Life threw him a curveball when his beloved owner passed away, but his playful bounce and unstoppable spirit never dimmed. His adorable waddle, caused by a birth condition, only added to his charm. Tachi proved daily that challenges are simply steppingstones to greater joy.

On a beautiful spring day, fate intervened when Elliott and Hannah Cohen, a lovely senior couple in their 80s, walked into their lives. Having recently lost their beloved dog, they felt a quiet emptiness in their home. The moment they met Jody and Tachi, it was clear these four seniors had found their perfect match.

Shortly after moving in, little Tachi needed major dental work, initially quoted at a daunting $6,000. But Baja Animal Sanctuary found compassionate care at just $250. Inspired by their touching journey, a generous donor stepped forward with a stroller so Elliott and Hanna could give their tiny companions daily strolls filled with fresh air, sunshine, and neighborhood adventures.

Today, nestled comfortably in their forever home, Jody and Tachi enjoy daily cuddles, blissful naps, and the kind of gentle, unwavering love only seniors fully appreciate. They remind us all of life's greatest lessons: kindness heals, joy can be found at any age, and it's never, ever too late to find family and happiness.

Because of your contributions, this sanctuary can continue its mission to rescue, heal, and love animals who deserve a second chance:

The Baja Animal Sanctuary (BAS) is a no-kill shelter located in Rosarito, Mexico, dedicated to rescuing and caring for abandoned and neglected dogs and cats. Their primary goal is to find these animals permanent, loving homes, but they also provide a safe haven for those who cannot be adopted. BAS is the only no-kill shelter in northern Mexico.
